To make your connector a mated pair, you must select a plug to match the receptacle. This is a relatively simple task because there are only two plug shell styles: straight and 90°. If you have chosen to have the socket (female) contacts in your receptacle, then your pin (male) contacts must be placed in your plug side to provide its counterpart. The plug and receptacle should have the same material, finish, and insert rotation.
|Straight Plug With Pin Contacts||90° Plug With Socket Contacts|
- Plugs come in straight or 90° shells
- If socket contacts are in the receptacle, pin contacts must be in the plug
- Plug material, finish, and insert rotation should match receptacle
